Founded in 1947 by G. Stanton Selby, the Pomona Concert Band has become
an integral part of Pomona's musical scene. Performing at civic events and
seasonal concerts, the high point of the band's year is the series of Summer
concerts in the G.Stanton Selby Band Shell in Ganesha Park. All performances
are free to the public. The band has performed at Disneyland and regional
band festivals as well as on tours of Europe and Japan.
Although comprised primarily of experienced adult musicians, outstanding
players from the local high school bands are invited to join. Members travel
from over twenty nearby communities to participate in one of the outstanding
community bands in Southern California.
