G. Stanton Selby served the community of Pomona enthusiastically and
energetically throughout his residence. After graduating from San Jose State
College and the University of Southern California with degrees in music he joined
the faculty of Mt. San Antonio College. Founding the Pomona Concert Band in
1947 he served as its Conductor for 57 years until his death in 2004.
He also served the City Pomona as Councilman and Mayor, and Chair of the Los
Angeles County Arts Commission. In addition, he left the band with a collection
of his original compositions and arrangements.
