Arthur Farr graduated from California State University at Los Angeles in 1966.
He taught instrumental music at all levels in the Arcadia Unfied School District for 38
years. He plays trumpet in PCB.
Kerry Kline, trombonist for PCB, recently moved from Florida to Southern California
to pursue advanced studies in Music Education and Performance. He brings with him several
years of classroom experience in band and orchestra conducting.
Dr. James Lytthans has been a member of PCB for nearly 55 years, having joined at age
13. He retired as a teacher of instrumental music from the Los Angeles Unified School
District after 35 years of service. He is an active professional clarinetist.
Christopher Northrop, a product of the Pomona Schools, is currently the band director at
Fontana High School, a position he has filled for 12 years. He graduated from Ganesha High
School, earned his B.A. at California State University San Bernardino. He plays trumpet in
the PCB.
David Schaafsma, PCB tubist, attended California State Polytechnic University, San Luis
Obispo, from 1971-76 and California State University Long Beach from 1977-78. He is currently
the Musical Director of the Long Beach Junior Concert Band, where he previously served as assistant
director from 1976-1982. He also founded and directed the Sound Machine of the Inland Empire
Youth Band based in Upland and Chino from 1984-1999. He is also an active band adjudicator
throughout Southern California.
