Conductor and Musical Director

Linda W. Taylor Mrs. Linda W. Taylor has been a member of the Pomona Concert Band since 1968.  During that tenure she has held the Solo Clarinet chair, was Assistant Conductor for several seasons, and for the past 27 years has played in the Tuba section.  In March 2006, she was appointed Conductor and Musical Director of the band.

In addition to playing in the PCB she plays in the Claremont Winds, is a founding member and co-manager of the Golden State British Brass Band, and is a founding member of the Promenade Brass.  She has also played with the San Gabriel Valley Symphony, the La Mirada Symphony, the Colorado Brass Band, and with several brass bands in England.

Prior to her retirement in 1998 Linda taught instrumental music in the Baldwin Park Unified School District for 30 years.  director@pomonaconcertband.org.

Assistant Conductor

Jorge Garcia Dr. Jorge Garcia has been involved in music education since 1969.  He has taught music on all levels from college to kindergarten.  He has conducted several honor groups including the Memorial Orchestra for President Chiang Kai-shek, the Sino-American Honor, and the Taiwan Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as various honor bands and orchestras in Southern California.  He has composed and published several pieces for the Pomona Concert Band and the Golden State British Brass Band.  He received his doctorate in Music Education in the summer of 2008.

He has toured Europe playing tuba with the School Band of America and won solo competitions in both California and Heidelberg, germany.  He is President-Emeritus and founder of the American Drum Line Association, a member of the American Guild of Handbell Ringers, and the National Consortium of Life Long Learning.

A noted lecturer and presenter on "Motivation in the Classroom," "Hymnody in the 21st Century Church," and "Music and Lifelong Learning," he has given presentations in several different countries and will be a speaker at the International Conference of Lifelong Learning in Budapest, Hungary, in the fall of 2007..  He joined the PCB in 2005.  jorge.garcia@pomonaconcertband.org.
